LAGUNA BEACH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AWARDED TWO PUBLICATIONS AND DIGITAL MEDIA AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
The Laguna Beach Unified School District is honored to have earned two awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) in the category of Publications and Digital Media Excellence. The entries that were awarded this honor include the LBUSD Mental Health Awareness Video, created by Andy Crisp, and Renew, Recharge, Reimagine: LBUSD's Annual Community Report 2020-2021, created by the Communications Department.
The Laguna Beach Unified School District is proud to announce the Class of 2022 Commencement Ceremony and our site-level promotions that will take place on June 9, 2022.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced earlier this week the winners of the newly created 2022 California Pivotal Practice (CAPP) Award Program. This award program has taken the place of the California Distinguished Schools (DS) Program this year. It honors and recognizes schools and districts that went above and beyond to implement innovative practices during the 2020–21 school year when California required schools to offer distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Laguna Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) is excited to announce the new principals at both El Morro (EMS) and Top of the World (TOW) Elementary Schools. After Mr. Chris Duddy announced his retirement as principal from El Morro Elementary, LBUSD set out to find the best fit to take over the administration at EMS. We are proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Julie Hatchel, current principal at TOW, as the new principal at El Morro Elementary School, and Meghan Schooler, current assistant principal at Thurston Middle School, as the new principal at Top of the World Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year.
Laguna Beach Early Learning Community Task Force’s Passport to Learning Event Brought in Record Numbers
On Saturday, March 12, 2022, the Laguna Beach Early Learning Community Task Force hosted 56 parents and caregivers and 48 young children at the 4th Annual Passport to the Learning event, a free, in-person early learning, family fun adventure at the Laguna Beach Community and Susi Q Center Terrace designed to help families learn simple, yet effective ways to build school readiness skills for children 0-5 years old.
