LBUSD today announced the appointment of Thomas Turner as the new principal of Top of the World Elementary School and Jennifer Moss as the new Program Specialist for special education services. Turner brings extensive experience in educational leadership, while Moss will support the coordination and implementation of special education services. 

The Action for Healthy Kids and USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service have honored Laguna Beach Unified School District with the Small or Rural Food Authority Breakfast Trailblazer Award and the Small or Rural School Food Authority Lunch Trailblazer Award for improving the nutritional quality of school meals. 

LBUSD has been named to the Educational Results Partnership's "Honor Roll" as one of California’s top-performing school districts. Top of the World and El Morro Elementary have also earned places on the Honor Roll, representing the top 17 percent of all schools in CA. 

LBUSD has been named a 2024 California Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Honoree by the California Department of Education for the district's environmental excellence and demonstrated achievement of the three pillars of the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools program.

LBUSD was honored this month as one of 975 school districts across the nation to receive the 2024 Best Communities for Music Education Award from the NAMM Foundation. This award acknowledges districts and schools for their exceptionally high commitment to and accessibility of music education, emphasizing the importance of integrating music education into a comprehensive educational framework.
