Enrollment is now open for new students joining the Laguna Beach Unified School District for the 2020-21 academic year. The process has been adapted for online registration in order to comply with social distancing and the ongoing closure of the district's campuses and offices related to COVID-19 mitigation efforts. 

LBUSD announced today the decision to extend distance learning until further notice, aligned with Governor Newsom’s expectation that school sites will not reopen this school year. LBUSD will continue to implement distance teaching and learning for the duration of the closure, consistent with the Governor’s expectation.

LBUSD, after careful deliberation and in an abundance of caution, announced today that it is closing its schools, effective Monday, March, 16, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

At the February 13 regular meeting of the LBUSD Board of Education, the board took action to approve the appointment of Dr. Julie Hatchel as Principal of Top of the World Elementary School effective April 20.

The Laguna Beach Early Learning Community Task Force will host a special screening event on Monday, February 10, for No Small Matter, the first feature documentary to explore the most overlooked, underestimated, and powerful force for change in America today: early childhood education.
