What is School-Wide PBIS?

  • PBIS IS NOT a curriculum, intervention or practice.

  • PBIS IS a decision-making framework that guides selection, integration and implementation of the best evidence-based practices for improving academic achievement, social competence and safety outcomes for all students.

PBIS Main Messages:

  • Supporting social behavior is central to achieving academic gains.

  • School-wide PBIS is an evidence-based practice for building a positive social culture that will promote both social and academic success.

  • Implementation of any evidence-based practice requires a more coordinated focus than typically expected.
