At the February 13 regular meeting of the LBUSD Board of Education, the board took action to approve the appointment of Dr. Julie Hatchel as Principal of Top of the World Elementary School effective April 20.

On Thursday, March 12, the LBUSD invites the community to “LBUSD Presents: Dr. Marc Brackett” at the Laguna Beach High School Artists Theatre. The parent education event will feature a keynote presentation from Dr. Marc Brackett, Founding Director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and author of “Permission to Feel: Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help Our Kids, Ourselves, and Our Society Thrive”.
The Laguna Beach Early Learning Community Task Force will host a special screening event on Monday, February 10, for No Small Matter, the first feature documentary to explore the most overlooked, underestimated, and powerful force for change in America today: early childhood education.
The LBUSD Board of Education has transitioned to electronic agenda management system, BoardDocs, to improve the governance process, ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and enhance collaboration. Thursday’s regularly scheduled school board meeting on January 16 at 6 p.m. is the first with an agenda compiled using BoardDocs.
LBUSD is one of 250 school districts in the U.S. and Canada being honored by the College Board with placement on the 10th Annual AP® District Honor Roll. Since 2017, LBUSD has increased the number of students participating in AP while also increasing or maintaining the percentage of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.
